I’ve known this single would be the end for a while now. I wrote it just over seven years ago, not long after my second album came out, and it has existed as a guide track for most of that time. Just before we locked down in March 2020, I rallied The Small Bear Records Wrecking Crew™ for a session with Captain Reynolds to nail my goodbye to the ceiling. Little did any of us know what was coming and how much it would affect all of our lives.
Without a hint of apology for its late arrival (trust me, its not even slightly sorry) here is the song that I’ve been waiting to share with you. I struggle to articulate what it’s actually about, because I wrote it during a time of great contrast in my life. Whether it’s beginnings, endings, full circles or what – we don’t know. What we do know is that it’s the song that starts playing as the first table is thrown into the Juke Box in a bar fight and it’s the way I wanted to go out – completely on my own terms and with any luck, leaving you wanting more.
There’s a lovely big FUCK in the second verse and we haven’t produced a radio edit so I’m not expecting any airplay and as such, I’m not planning on doing any press.
Thank you, you glorious bastard you! A million times thank you and a big smoochy kiss on your wonderful face! You were brilliant.
Love, peace and pie! Clara ❤ xxx
